United Way Oxford will be hosting the Student Stair Climb at the Woodstock Community Complex on Thursday November 2nd.
OXFORD COUNTY - United Way Oxford is getting ready for the Student Stair Climb.
The popular event will take place on Thursday, November 2nd at the Woodstock Community Complex.
Resource Development Coordinator, Mike Crabbe says it will include all seven high schools in Oxford County.
"It brings together school spirit. There's this really great thing when every school comes loaded with energy, pumped up to support their school. They come together for some friendly competition, the goal is to raise as much money as you can. The winning school wins a trophy, and the top three fundraisers get prizes as well."
He adds, Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute (IDCI) has taken home the trophy every year except one, when Woodstock Collegiate Institute (WCI) raised the most money.
Crabbe explains how students can get involved.
"Check in with your main office, they have pledge forms available to you. You can go out and ask your friends, and your family members to make a donation to help support United Way. The more money you raise, the more help we can do in the community."
He mentions, that if you are an Alumni of any of the schools participating and want to donate, you can donate online here and leave a note in the comment section stating which school you would like to support. United Way will make sure the amount is added to the total.
Over the past 18 years, Crabbe says the Student Stair Climb has raised over $411,000 for local causes in Oxford County.
