Flooding Across The Region

All three conservation authorities in our region have issued flood warnings after two days of heavy rain and the snow melt.

OXFORD COUNTY - Flood Warnings remain in effect across the region this morning. 

OPP are reminding drivers to slow down and make sure your headlights are on. OPP Constable Laura Lee Brown offers this advice if you do start to hydro plane. 

"But in the event that we do find ourselves starting to hydroplane, don't panic, over correcting or over compensating in any way can cause us to lose control of our vehicle and that is not what we want. The best thing you can do is step off the gas and try not to panic." 

Manager of Community and Corporate Services with The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority Teresa Hollingsworth says the water is very dangerous right now. 

"It really is a safety message, trying to remind people that the water is really cold, really fast flowing, we are trying to keep all children and pets away from all watercourses, even a stream or a creek is going to be running really high, it is really important for people to stay away from any kind of watercourse." 

Several roads have been closed because of the flooding which is expected to peak later today.

All three conservation authorities in our region have issued flood warnings. Residents in area's with imminent flooding have already been notified by authorities.
