City Council passes a motion that would see for-profit fitness classes charged $10 to use city park space
For-profit fitness instructors wishing to hold classes in City owned parks will now have to pay a small fee to use the space.
Council approved a motion Thursday night that would see a $10 an hour fee charged to book the space.
Director of Parks and Recreation Brian Connors says space will be booked strategically in places such as the picnic areas, during low usage times to help prevent, what he described as a 'wild-west'/free for all situation.
He says having to register to use the spaces also allows the city the ability to contact the groups when the park areas are too wet and could be easily damaged.
