Farmers across Oxford County are invited to attend a free breakfast on Friday to discuss new Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
WOODSTOCK - The Grand River OHS is putting on a free breakfast for farmers in Oxford County.
Senior Vice President and Founder of Grand River OHS Wes Mazur says the event will offer information on mental health, tips and strategies for farm safety compliance and more.
"We're going to be discussing the importance of mental health and wellness for farmers, we're also going to be discussing what is new under the Occupational Health and Safety Legislation that affects farms. Very importantly, when can a farming operation change, very quickly, into an industrial establishment or a construction project based on the activity that takes place. We found there's a bit of confusion and a lack of knowledge on that, so we're going to highlight those points."
Mazur adds there will also be guest speakers at the event, including the Federation of Agriculture.
"We will have the Federation of Agriculture speaking about some very important mental health issues and concerns with the farming community. We have one of the top ten legal experts in Canada, this gentleman is a lawyer who happened to grow up on a farm in Mount Forrest actually so it's kind of neat that he's back to speak about his experience."
The public can sign up to register by visiting here or by calling 519-267-8600. Space is limited during the event, so early registration is recommended.
The breakfast starts at 8:30am at the Royal Canadian Legion in Woodstock.
