After a fake gun was pulled in downtown Woodstock, one man is facing very real charges.
WOODSTOCK - Two people have been arrested after a fake gun was pointed at a crowd of people in Downtown Woodstock.
Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen says the incident happened at 3 p.m. yesterday in the area of Dundas and Wellington. "A man and a woman were driving downtown when the vehicle stopped abruptly. The male passenger got out of the car and confronted some people who were on the sidewalk, he got back in the car rolled in his window and pointed what was described at the time as a handgun at the people he had previously confronted."
VanLeeuwen says the gun turned out to be a replica and police officers were able to track down the vehicle a short while later. She notes it looked very real and says it is a very dangerous practice to be carrying around a replica weapon. When police see someone with what appears to be real gun they treat it as such, and it is lucky nobody was injured. A 22 year old from Woodstock was arrested at the scene and charged with firearms offences. He is presently facing other charges with Woodstock Police and those charges will be spoken to at his Bail Hearing this morning.
