WOODSTOCK - Time is running out for Woodstonians to get their information to ERTH before the new billing system kicks in.
Director of Public Works Robert Walton says the onus is on the property owner to make sure the company has all the necessary information if residents would prefer paperless billing. "All of the billing for water and wastewater is being switched from Woodstock Hydro to ERTH. As part of the privacy legislation we can't just hand over all that information from one to the other so people who have E-Billing or pre-authorized payments from their banks right now need to contact ERTH and provide them with the information they need to continue to provide that service."
Walton says its better to do this as soon as possible because the new bills will be coming out shortly. "They can do it now and have their first bills come the way that they do now and the payments. They can always do it in the future, but they will start to receive them via the mail if the do not do this ahead of the first bills going out which is the first two weeks of February."
That first bill might also look a little strange to homeowners according to Walton. "There is a transition here though because when we do the first billing the cycles will be changed on the first billing. So the first bill people will get, some of them will be as few as 20 days on that bill where it's usually a month. Some of them could be as high as 50 now, there's only a few that will be up into that range."
