Warning Preparedness Meteorologist at Environment Canada Geoff Coulson says long weekend is all sunshine.
OXFORD COUNTY - The August long weekend has finally arrived.
For those who wish to spend their extra time off under the sun, Warning Preparedness Meteorologist at Environment Canada Geoff Coulson has good news.
"It looks like most of the long weekend is going to be very nice. We're looking at an area of high pressure building in from the American Midwest for Saturday and Sunday. That's going to give us lots of sunshine."
However, for the farmers, the sunshine is not great news, and neither is Coulson's forecast for the next few weeks regarding rainfall.
"Any rainfall we're getting is more of a hit and miss variety, which is pretty normal for this time of year. Not necessarily large areas of widespread rainfall, but more a chance of showers or thunderstorms here or there. Some of these downpours can give significant rainfall in short periods of time, not the gentle and widespread rainfall that the farmers may be looking for."
There is a chance at showers or thunderstorms on the holiday Monday, so Coulson wants to remind everyone that they should stay on top of Environment Canada in case the weather gets severe.
