WOODSTOCK - After a dry May, it has been a wet summer in Southwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says he anticipates things will be different in August.
"Things change pretty significantly with time, I have seen so many instances in which the long term forecast has changed significantly, so I don't hang my hat too much on it beyond a week to 10 days. Broadly speaking we are looking at something closer to normal for the foreseeable future."
Kimbell says it has been a wetter summer than normal.
"June was very wet in Southwestern Ontario and likewise for the first 25 days in July. It has been a wet month and half or so, May was pretty dry, people were even worried about a drought but it caught up pretty quick."
He adds that right now the long weekend is calling for sunshine and a little bit of rain.
"The long weekend is still a few days away so the forecast could and likely will still change. Right now it looks like a couple of days of sunshine, with showers at some point, maybe on Sunday and then cooler for Monday."
