The Embro Highland Games will be happening this Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
EMBRO - The Embro Highland Games will be making a comeback this Canada Day.
The celebration of Scottish heritage will be taking place this Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Jennifer Moodie from the Zorra Caledonian Society says they will have lots of competitions happening throughout the day.
"Some of the events our guests can see at our Highland Games are the stone toss, carrying weights for distance, hammer throw, and the caber toss. You will see a whole bunch of male and female contestants that are high-ranking competitors from the Canadian Scottish Athletic Federations."
Moodie says there will also be lots other fun activities as well.
"Visitors can expect to enjoy a huge celebration of Scottish heritage and tradition. You can see things like dancing, pipe bands, heavy events, a 10km, 5km, and 2km road race and there's even kilted yoga."
The Embro Highland Games is Ontario's oldest highland games, first starting in 1937. Before the COVID-19 pandemic the games had only shutdown for World War II.
