Provincial police use weekend incident to remind drivers to maintain a safe following distance.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY — A 55-year-old Hamilton man has been charged in connection to a transport truck rollover that brought the westbound lanes of Highway 401 to a halt late Sunday morning.
Police say he was following too closely when traffic slowed down near Dorchester Road in Thames Centre.
The driver had to brake suddenly and police say that caused his rig to skid across the freeway before it eventually rolled over and struck the centre median and blocked all westbound lanes.
The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at hospital.
Police are using this incident as a reminder to the drivers to maintain a safe following distance to allow yourself enough time to react to avoid a collision safely.
