The Friendly City will be playing host to some of the best peewee baseball teams in the country, when the DQ National 13U Championships comes to Cowan Fields.
WOODSTOCK - The best peewee baseball teams in the country will be gathering in Woodstock for the DQ National 13U Championships.
It will take place in Cowan Fields from Thursday August 23rd to Sunday August 26th weather permitting. Games will be rescheduled to Monday August 27th if need be.
Special Projects Director Jeremy Jeanson says 10 teams will be competing, including a host team from the Friendly City.
"They've been doing a lot of workouts indoors, they've preparing with their seasonal play and they're going to augment their players with some of the best players in the ICBA (Inter County Baseball Association) and they'll get a chance to compete."
Jeanson says the teams will be competing in 27 games throughout the weekend.
"You'll see morning games, afternoon games and evening games. Most games will wrap up at around 9 p.m. We will also have lots of things going on at Cowan Fields including a beer tent sponsored by Upper Thames Brewing and some food trucks. Lots of fun going on at the diamond!"
It will cost $15 for a day pass or $30 for a weekend pass. Kids under 12 will get in for free.
Jeanson adds the Woodstock Minor Baseball Association is also on the lookout for volunteers to help out. You can find more information online here.
