OPP are stressing the importance of following the rules of the road.
OPP want to make sure drivers out there don’t D.I.S.S the rules of the road.
They are highlighting the big four causal factors of death on
- Distracted Driving
- Impaired Driving
- Speeding
- Lack of Seatbelt usage
Weather conditions, road conditions, traffic congestion, police enforcement and highway engineering are not considered causal factors when it comes to collisions.
Just last year Western Region OPP investigated 105 fatal collisions that claimed the lives of 111 people. The province wide road fatality total was 307.
OPP will be maximizing some of their technology in order to help make their roadways safer. This includes their Automated Licence Plate Recognition and their Unmanned Ariel System.
