Over $3,000 has been donated to the relief efforts in Nepal locally through the Woodstock Oxford Rotary Club.
All of the money donated is going towards buying water, food, medication and shelter for the people impacted by the devastating earthquake over the weekend.
Woodstock Oxford Rotary has teamed up with the Rotary India Humanity Foundation to help fund shelter kits which consist of clothing, tarpaulin, mosquito nets, blankets, utensils and other necessities.
Rotary member Doug Vincent tells Heart FM the people of Nepal need a lot of support right now and a lot of the devastation is taking place in the rural areas of Nepal while the major cities are getting a lot of the media attention.
So far rotary has been able to raise enough money to help produce 1,000 shelter kits to the people of Nepal.
5200 people were killed in the earthquake and thousands more injured.
The numbers are expected to climb as crews continue to search through the rubble.
If you would like to donate locally you can do so online at www.woodstockoxfordrotary.org and at the top click donations and then donate to our charity.
You can also send a cheque to Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Benefit Trust
