The Oxford County Animal Rescue has been receiving more requests for dog surrenders lately and a lot of them seem to have financial ties.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Animal is looking for foster homes for surrendered dogs.
Foster Coordinator Anna Holmes says more people have been giving up their dogs lately due to financial struggles.
"We've received a lot of requests for people to help take their animals in because they are unable to care for them because they're losing their jobs and all of that kind of stuff. We really do need fosters for dogs specifically, also for cats, but mostly for dogs."
Those who are interested can fill out the foster application form on the Oxford County Animal Rescue's website. Holmes says a volunteer will visit you after the form is submitted, to help you determine what type of animal is best suited for you.
"We don't want to bring a dog into a home that is not with children if you have children, or is not good with cats if you have cats. So we want to match everybody up so it's a success for everyone."
The Oxford County Animal Rescue currently has nine dogs listed for adoption on its website.
Holmes called the Heart FM studio for her monthly chat with Dan and Marcie on Wednesday January 3rd. You can listen to the full interview below:
