Diane Hatfield, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District is calling it a career after dedicating 33 years to the organization.
WOODSTOCK - A familiar face from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District is getting ready to walk through the doors one last time.
Executive Director Diane Hatfield has been with Big Brothers Big Sisters for 33 years and has witness some major changes in the organization. She was there was the major merger that created Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District eight years ago.
Hatfield says what she will remember most are the people they helped - the Bigs and the Littles.
"What always touches me the most is when one of our Littles comes back and they want to volunteer, they want to give back. They know the difference it has made in their life and now they want a chance to do the same for someone else."
Hatfield says she will also miss the amazing and tireless staff she has worked with over the years.
She also says she plans to still be involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters in a lesser capacity from time to time, but for now she is off for some well earned R&R
"I understand from friends that you become busier than you were when you were working - they don't know how they fit in work. But my husband and I do have a lot of retirement plans and will do a little bit of travel."
Hatfield officially retires at the end of the month, and at that time Kristen Ralph will step in as interim Executive Director.
A special drop in event will be happening on Thursday, December 8th to say goodbye. It is happening at the Woodstock office on Dundas Street from 2 - 6 p.m.
