A driver in medical distress is lucky to be alive after a crash on the 401 today. Emergency crews were called to the 401 Westbound near Trussler Road this morning after an SUV left the roadway, hitting a tree and bursting into flames. The black SUV was reported to police after it was seen swerving on the highway. It hit a transport truck and left the road, hitting a tree. Three passing motorists pulled over to assist the driver before the fire got out of control. It was determined the man was suffering from a diabetic episode. He was taken to Cambridge hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police say no charges will be laid.
