The Canadian Cancer Society nearly raised $10,000 at the Daffodil Dash this year.
WOODSTOCK - The Canadian Cancer Society nearly raised $10,000 at the Daffodil Dash this year.
Fundraising Marketing Specialist Hailey Parliament says it was an amazing day at Roth Park on Saturday.
"The Daffodil Dash went incredible, the weather held up, it felt like, just for us, it started to rain just as we were packing up, so we had a great morning for it. We raised nearly $10,000 with 101 runners, so we were thrilled this year."
All of the money raised will go towards local programs and life saving cancer research.
"The money raised at Daffodil Dash will go into our general fund where the money will be used where it is most needed, so that might be in the services we offer like Wheels of Hope, our hotline for anyone living with cancer who needs support and the money will also of course go to the life saving cancer research that the society funds every day."
The six year breast cancer awareness fundraiser was formerly known as Cool Running's.
According to Community Fundraising Specialist Hailey Parliament, the Daffodil Dash had its success out in British Columbia. With the recent merger with the Canadian Cancer Foundation, our local branch has come under the Daffodil Dash umbrella.
