Hair Power in Woodstock did 32 haircuts on Sunday, raising over $1,000 for prostate cancer research.
WOODSTOCK - Hair Power on Dundas Street cut a lot of hair on Sunday to raise money for prostate cancer.
They did 32 haircuts and managed to raise $1,053. Councillor Jerry Acchione was one of the people to stop by on Sunday and help support the great cause.
All of the proceeds from haircuts will be going towards prostate cancer research at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation in Hamilton. Jim Gallup says he first approached the idea for a fundraiser to the owners of Hairpower and they were happy to help.
"I am a cancer survivor and I have hit the 5 and a half year mark, so I am pleased with that."
Gallup says he is thrilled that Hair Power agreed to do this fundraiser with him.
"I talked to Frank about fundraising for the cancer research. I wanted to give back to the Juravinski Clinic and what they did for me. I'm alive, I'm seeing my grandchildren grow up, they were really good at the clinic for my treatments."
Owner Frank Commissso gave up his Sunday to do all the haircuts. He charged $25 with all the proceeds going to the Juravinski Hospital.
