Over $12,500 was brought in at the Curl for Kids sake in Ingersoll on Saturday.
INGERSOLL - Curl for Kids Sake was right on the button once again this year at the Ingersoll event.
Over $12,500 was raised at the bonspiel over the weekend for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tillsonburg, Ingersoll and District. Resource Development Coordinator Heather Breckleman says they had a lot of great corporate sponsors and teams this year and even some of the little's got a chance to curl.
"One of these girls, it's her third year curling, so she is a seasoned curler and she is teaching her Big Sister how to curl today, which is a lot of fun for her, she has never been able to do it and that's the kind of thing that we see is a lot of these matches, the big's teaching the kids a lot but sometimes the little's end up teaching the big's more than we expect."
Breckleman says it was amazing to see the support from the community once again. They are hoping to bring in similar totals at the Curl for Kids Sake in Tillsonburg on Saturday. It is to late to sign up a team for the Tillsonburg bonspiel, however you can still help out by supporting the fundraiser's and you are more than welcome to stop by the curling club on Saturday to watch the games and get in on some of the draws.
Breckleman also wanted to thank all of the donors and the sponsors who made this event possible including the title sponsor Scotiabank. Heart FM was also one of the titled sponsors and submitted a team for the bonspiel. The Heart FM Hosers actually finished the tournament in second place and featured on air talent, Paul Laing from the Shelby and Lainger morning show and our midday host Cody Hayward. Heart FM producer Dan Fry and News Director Chris McMillan rounded out the team.
