Oxford County Council is being asked to approve $1.12 million for a new affordable housing project in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - A new affordable housing project for Woodstock is on the Oxford County council agenda today.
The proposed project is planned for Parkinson Road, just west of Powell Street. County Council is being asked to approve $1.12 million from the Social Service Relief Fund for the project. This is a provincial funding initiative designed to help some of the most vulnerable people in community wit the social effects of COVID-19. The project would be located on the site of an existing County affordable housing project on Parkinson Road in Woodstock.
In the County report they state it would have a focus on bridging the gap between homelessness and permanent housing using community services interventions. If approved, it should be ready to go by the end of 2021.
The plan is to build 8 micro or tiny homes at the site to help the homeless in our community.
You can read more about the project online here.
