Members of Oxford County Council are trying to schedule meeting dates to discuss the budget for 2018.
Council had discussed setting budget meeting dates for November 15th, 22nd and 29th of this year. The only problem is Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch, Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey and Tillsonburg Mayor Stephen Molnar will be out of the country on those dates. They will be attending a trade delegation in
Warden David Mayberry says council will discuss other dates.
"I expect at the next meeting there will be recommendations around whether we change one, two or three of them (the dates) recognizing that we would like to have the budget passed before the end of the year. If it's not possible, it's not possible but if we could simply shift a couple of dates into December we could probably do that as well."
The county is also getting ready release a budget survey, in order to get the public's opinion on how their tax dollars are spent.
Mayberry says it's a great opportunity for residents to have their voices heard.
"Everybody has a right to their own opinion. Some people want us to spend a lot of money in one area and some want us to spend more in others and it's helpful to hear what the public is thinking."
The survey will be available online and at municipal offices in the next couple of weeks.
