A special committee will be formed in order to represent Oxford County's long-term care expansion project.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford County Council has approved the next steps for the Woodingford Lodge expansion.
They have decided that the best way to approach the expansion is to choose a committee of council and staff will to represent the project.
Warden Marcus Ryan expresses how private and public long-term care homes running together in Oxford make decisions more difficult.
"There's a combination of private and public operated long-term care homes in Oxford County. The public ones are operated by Oxford County and partially funded by Oxford County taxes. So the recommendation from staff that council agreed with is that we form a committee of council and staff to manage that process of negotiating with the Province."
Ryan says that they hope that the province won't make them wait too long, but his priority is not to have rapid progress on the project but the right progress.
Council will discuss more detail of the committee during the next council meeting on Thursday March 22nd.
Back in January, Oxford County Council voted in favour of submitting an application to the province for a new 160-bed long-term care home in Ingersoll. You can find more details online here.
