The Conservative Party has released it's full platform.
The 162 page document promises billions of dollars to assist with economic recovery, as well as the creation of one million jobs.
The party says they plan to establish the Canada Job Surge Plan, which would pay up to half of the salary of new employees for six months, starting when the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy is phased out.
"The number of Canadians who have been unemployed for more than six months is stuck near its highest level ever," O'Toole says. "More and more people are spending months on end unemployed, making it hard for them to get back on their feet. When people can find jobs, most are part-time."
The party also plans to create a "Canada Investment Accelerator," which would provide companies with a five percent investment tax credit in 2022 and 2023 for any capital expenditures made.
As well, the Conservatives plan to implement a national rapid screening program to allow businesses and public institutions to remain open in the face of future variants and outbreaks. This would also include providing at-home rapid test kits to Canadians.
The party also vows to convert the Child Care Expense deduction into a refundable tax credit that will cover up to 75 percent of the cost of child care for low income families.
