A chilly blast of arctic air will make its presence felt this week
Environment Canada has issued a wind chill warning, and that's prompted Oxford Public Health to issue a Cold Weather Alert.
Wind chill values are forecasted to dip to a breath taking -30 tonight and Tuesday. Air temperatures will drop to -21 overnight and only hit a high of -17 Tuesday afternoon. The cold weather is expected to stick with us all week, with high temperatures between -12 and -14 continuing through Friday.
Public Health are reminding residents to take extra precautions before heading outdoors, especially those most at risk including elders, infants and young children.
Over-exposure could lead to frostbite and hypothermia.
Those looking to seek shelter are encouraged to visit Inn Out Of The Cold at Old St Paul's Anglican Church on Dundas which is open daily from 7pm to 7am, or the Salvation Army Emergency Housing that provides temporary housing for families.
