The City sold the former Small Business Centre building for just over $432,000 and had to decide what to do with the money.
WOODSTOCK - The Market Centre renovation is getting a financial boost from the City.
The downtown building was recently renovated so it could house Woodstock's Human Resources Department and the Economic Development Department. This includes the Small Business Centre, which used to be located on Dundas Street.
The City sold the former location over the summer for just over $432,000 but in an interview on the Heart FM morning show earlier this week, Mayor Jerry Acchione said City Council had to decide what to do with the money.
"Though we knew it would go up for sale at some point this year, we weren't sure of the dollar value so we did not include it in the budgeting. So we have a really good opportunity here to put it towards debt, it towards a future project, and decide as a council where to put that money."
City Council has decided to put it towards the Market Centre renovation respectively.
