Small appliances and alcohol are the most common thing stolen from seasonal trailers and cottages over the winter.
The OPP are reminding people with vacation homes to check in on them regularly.
Keeping an eye on your vacation home will help reduce the number of break-ins and thefts.
Also make sure to remove all valuable items from the home. Small appliances and alcohol are often targeted by thieves as they are easy to steal and equally easy to sell for cash and drugs. Homes should be properly locked at all times.
Police encourage property owners to have someone check their vacation property daily during the "off-season" to ensure everything is secure. This tried and tested method is the best deterrent against crime.
If you see something say something. Police are asking people who live in around in and around trailer parks and/or cottages to report any and all suspicious activity to police when it happens.
