We'll get an extra hour of sleep when the clocks go back one hour overnight. The Woodstock Fire department is also reminding people to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
OXFORD COUNTY - The clocks will be going back one hour overnight.
Public Information Coordinator Lisa Woods says to remember to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
"Change the clocks, change the batteries. Batteries need to be at their peak performance in order to give that early detection, early warning that there may be a fire in your home. You only have a little over a minute to escape a home fire these days. We're burning 80% hotter and 80% faster because of the materials we're using so early detection is key to escaping."
She says this campaign runs every year and is meant to remind people to check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and change the batteries.
Woods adds they want to make people aware as the time changes.
"People are busy so if we remind them to change the clocks, change the batteries it tends to stick with people we just want to get the message out."
She says there are still batteries even in hard-wired smoke alarms.
Daylight savings time officially ends after 2 o'clock in the morning.
