Staff at Fanshawe College in Woodstock host their second shower to support Sakura House
WOODSTOCK - It was a shower celebrating Sakura House.
Staff at Woodstock's Fanshawe College Campus came together to give thanks to the community hospice.
Organizer Charmaine Bragg says those who were invited to the shower received a list of items Sakura House was in need of.
"Such as Staples gift cards, Walmart gift cards, Winners, Homesense gift cards, towels, liquid soaps. So they were Fanshawe employees and friends of ours and my family. All of those people brought something just as they would for a bridal shower, so something for a house."
"The (retired) principal of our campus made 10 quilts. One for each room at Sakura House. They were absolutely beautiful quilts. Many of them had butterfly material incorporated in the quilt and that's sort of a symbal that they use at Sakura House."
Bragg says this is the second shower she has hosted for the hospice.
"My husband passed away at Sakura House in 2011 and we had our first shower in the fall of 2011 here at the campus. My family decided they wanted to do something to give back to Sakura House so we came up with the idea of sort of a bridal shower, so all sorts of things that you would need to set up a house."
Bragg says she hopes this inspires other people to give back to the hospice as well.
