Bob Izumi's Kids, Cops, and Canadian Tire is returning to Pittock Conservation giving kids a chance to fish with officers.
Kids have an opportunity to fish with some of Woodstock's Finest.
Bob Izumi's Kids, Cops, and Canadian Tire is returning to Pittock Conservation this year.
Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen of the Woodstock Police says this free event attracts a lot of families.
"So we partner with Upper Thames Conservation Authority and their staff actually organize most of the day so it's at Pittock this year and we've done it at Pittock - I believe this is the second year we've done it there. We used to do it at the Navy Club, but it's gotten so big that we actually needed more space."
VanLeeuwen says this truly is for everyone:
"So everything's accessible as well so if people want to fish and they have some barriers they are still welcome to come out and we'll get you a pole and get you to the water."
This is all taking part as we celebrate Ontario Family Fishing Week, and VanLeeuwen says they see people take advantage of all the fun year after year.
"They have a barbeque. All the young people win a prize and it's a great day to go fishing. There will be police officers there, Striker will be there so if people want to meet our police dog they can do that as well."
It's happening on Saturday, July 9th at Pittock Conservation. Registration will happen on the morning of starting at 8:30 a.m. in Section 2 of the campground at the waterfront. The event runs until noon.
