College Ave Secondary School was able to open their new track with the Terry Fox Run. The event was delayed while the new running surface was being installed.
WOODSTOCK - A new track has been completed at College Ave Secondary School.
With the completion, the school's Terry Fox Run was able to take place.
Athletics Minister, Abbie Stevenson says why she wanted to spearhead the event.
"This is one of the events I really enjoy, because it is good to get out cancer research, like to broadcast it."
Leadership Member, Madison Pickard also talks about her thoughts of the Terry Fox Run.
"The amount of people who are coming out and supporting it is absolutely amazing. Just being able to be a part of putting it all together and running it makes me so happy."
Stevenson adds, her grandparents passed away from cancer and she hopes by raising money, answers can be found so no one else has to go through loss from cancer.
She speaks to who this new track will be able to help not only the school, but the community.
"I personally think this is amazing. I know when I was in elementary school we used this track, I know people from the community love to use this track."
Stevenson and Pickard both say the turnout for the Terry Fox Run was amazing, and it was a surprise to see the number of students come to the track and support the cause.
