Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week

Members of the Woodstock fire department will be spreading the word throughout the community this week.

WOODSTOCK - It's Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week and local firefighters are doing their part to spread the message. 

Woodstock Firefighters will be out in the community raising awareness of the deadly colourless odourless gas.

Public Information Coordinator Lisa Woods says they will be out this week spreading the message. 

"We will be in public places like the casino and grocery stores, handing out information and being available for people to ask questions." 

Woods says carbon monoxide is the silent killer and it can be in your house without you even realizing it. 

"It often mimics the effects of having the flu, so you start not feeling well, you get a headache, you get nauseated, some of your family members start to feel that way and you start to think well maybe we just have the flu and we are passing it around, this is why you need to have working carbon monoxide alarms and have them in the house." 

It is the law to have an alarm that works outside of every bed room in your house.
