An Innerkip area man is lucky to be alive after he collided with a freight train Sunday morning. Woodstock police say an 89 year-old man was travelling south on County Road 4 near County Road 17 when he crashed into the side of an eastbound freight train. He struck the first locomotive, was spun around striking the train a second time before coming to rest clear of the tracks. The man was airlifted to Victoria Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The car was demolished in the crash while the train suffered minor damage. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them at 519-537-2323 as their investigation is continuing. The identity of the man has not been released at this time.
