Have toe tapping good time in Ingersoll this weekend at the Canterbury Folk Festival.
INGERSOLL - The Canterbury Folk Festival is has officially taken over Ingersoll with three days of live music.
Thousands of people are expected to attend the free festival this weekend. Things got started last night with the Swine and Dine Pig Roast and the fun continues today with the Downtown Sidewalk sale. Valdy and Pavlo are two of the main acts who rock the main stage tonight with the music starting around 6:30 p.m. Tomorrow's concert lineup features Dan Stacey, Red Moon Road and The Once.
Chair and Artistic Director Ted Comiskey tells Heart FM the event will once again be Waste Free thanks to the Tranisition to Less Waste team.
"Bit by bit we have made Canterbury zero waste and they have done a fantastic job and it will continue on, that is our goal to make it a zero waste festival. We have been encouraging other festivals to do the same thing and it has been working. The whole idea is that we can live and enjoy life without producing waste or what waste we have, finding other means and uses for it, other than just going into a landfill. We hope that someday, landfills will just be totally out of the question."
Comiskey says they have acts coming in from all across Canada for three days of music including Valdy coming from British Columbia.
"We are bringing in a highlighted artist from every province, every province will be represented here a the Ingersoll festival, we have Valdy coming in from B.C. and at the other end we have The Once coming in from Newfoundland."
Each day will feature five acts, you can see the entire list of performers online here.
