With Marijuana becoming legal today it's extremely important for you to know and understand where and when its legal to consume pot.
OXFORD COUNTY - If your curious and have any questions about the laws and uses of Marijuana then your invited to join the Southwestern Health Unit for a Q & A.
With Cannabis becoming legal in Canada this Wednesday it's important that you know where and when its okay to consume the drug. The Southwestern Public Health Unit is holding a Q & A at the Oxford Administrative building today. The Q & A opens up at 10 a.m. and make sure you have your questions ready as the event ends at 11:30 a.m. Panelists include Addiction Services of Thames Valley, Canadian Health Association, Oxford Drug Awareness Committee, Ontario Provincial Police, Southwestern Public Health Unit, and the Woodstock Police Service.
Public Health Nurse Jacqueline Deroo explains more on the event and Cannabis becoming legal in Canada.
"The legal minimum age in Canada to buy, use and grow Cannabis is 19 in Ontario, but as of today, you can buy Cannabis online at the Ontario Cannabis Store. However, there will be no retail outlet until April of 2019."
Deroo also adds;
"You can posses 30 grams in public unless you have a medical authorization. You cannot grow more then 4 plants per residence, (not per person) and it follows the Smoke Free Ontario Act and I would definitely look at that act to understand where you are legally allowed to consume it."
The whole Q & A will also be live streamed on the Southwestern Public Health Facebook page, so if your unable to attend you can be informed that way as well. If you have any further questions about the Q & A and the use of Marijuana then you are encouraged to visit the Southwestern Public Health's website.
