WOODSTOCK - Trevor Birtch proved that it doesn't necessarily take a lot of money to win a political campaign.
The City of Woodstock released their Candidate Financial Statements earlier this month which showed Birtch spent just over three thousand dollars on his campaign.
Michael Harding spent the most in his mayoral bid at nearly $24,000 with former Mayor Pat Sobeski spending $7,100 including $325 for what he says went to "ads to expose the lies of Michael Harding".
When it came to the City/County Council position, Sandra Talbot spent the most with nearly $3400 followed by Deb Tait at $2300 and former councillor Bill Bes spending $2200.
The Woodstock City Councillor with the most votes after the municipal election, also spent the least of any of the winners on her campaign.
Connie Lauder spent just under $2300.
Council hopeful Ross Gerrie spent the most at just under $9900 while Jonnathan Brownlee spent the least of any candidate at $663.
Three council hopefuls failed to file their expenses including former City/County Councillor Paul Plant and newcomers Christina Atkinson and Steve Gilbert which means they will not be eligible to run in the 2018 election.
