Oxford County is hosting a special presentation examining the Passive House Building Standard.
WOODSTOCK - A special presentation at the Oxford County Administration building will help educate the public about the Passive House Building Standard.
The presentation on November 29th features two guest speakers from Ottawa; architect Anthony Leaning and passive house pioneer Malcolm Isaacs.
Manager of Strategic Initiatives Jay Heaman tells Heart FM the Passive House Standard will help keep energy bills at a lower price.
"Energy and electricity costs are only going up and the only way that we can really combat that is through conservation, efficiency, and just proper building of the buildings themselves."
Introduced in Germany over 25 years ago, the Passive House Standard has been proven to reduce energy consumption by 80 to 90% and it is now gaining traction in North America. Oxford County Council has approved two social housing projects which will be built to the standard.
The presentation will kick off at 7 p.m. and is absolutely free to attend.
