Browse Borrow and Go

The Woodstock Library will reopen to the public today with a new browse, borrow and go service model.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Library will reopen to the public today Wednesday, July 29th. 

CEO David Harvie says the Library will have a new "browse-borrow-and-go" service model. 

"To encourage people to come in, get their items and go, is the service model we will be implementing. So there will be no public seating, access at this point to public Internet computers. So it's just, come into the library, find what you are looking for and check it out, that is the model we are looking at."  

Harvie adds this will comply with the restrictions identified by the Province to ensure the safety of staff and patrons.

“We know that there is a pent-up demand for our collections, given the success for our curb-side pick-up service. In June, we had 1,566 curb-side pick-ups at the Library.”

The library will have a limit on the number of people who can be in the building at one time. The Province currently has a limit of 50 people inside a building at one time; however they are looking to limit the number to around 30-40 people. Social distancing will be required and everyone will be asked to wear a face covering while inside the building, including staff. 

The Library will continue to quarantine returned items, and some areas of the building will be restricted to staff only. Given the capacity restrictions, our public seating, study carrels and public Internet computers won't be available at this time. 

Harvie says the Library will continue to offer items on holds for pick-up within the lobby of the building. 

“Never before has the library been more important to our community then now. Our public service staff are looking forward to seeing and serving our patrons once again.”
