The Tavistock Braves are one win away from being crowned the PJHL Doherty Division Champions with a chance to compete for the Schmalz Cup.
TAVISTOCK - The Tavistock Braves continue to deliver on the ice as they currently enjoy a 3 games to 1 series lead in the PJHL Doherty Division Championships.
Tavistock beat Ayr 4-3 last night in overtime to take the commanding series lead. Braves General Manager Jordan Zehr says the boys have been playing great in the post season.
"When we play our systems for a full 60 minutes and when we can do that, we are good team. We know that the 4th win is usually the toughest one to win in a 7 game series, so we know Ayr will be flying tomorrow night."
Game 5 goes tomorrow night in Ayr with the puck drop at 7:30. The winner of this series will go on to compete for the Schmalz Cup against the top Junior C teams in the Province.
Zehr says a lot of guys have really stepped up for them in this series against Ayr.
"I mean last night we had Mitch McKay, a hometown kid, rookie, scoring in front of him his hometown crowd like that, was probably one of his career highlights. For us though the scoring has been spread around, the way we have been able to battle and pick up these wins and kind of battle through a little bit of adversity here and there and put this run together, the whole thing has just been a huge highlight."
Tavistock has grown leaps and bounds over the past 3 years to reach the PJHL finals and still have a tough task ahead of them as they look to unseat the top team in the division for the past several years.
