The Brant County Fire Department will be holding a fire training exercise near Oak Park Road.
BRANT COUNTY - Brant County Fire Department will be burning two houses this weekend near Oak Park Road.
The houses were donated to the County by the new property owners who are currently developing the industrial area and offered the buildings for a controlled fire training exercise.
Brant County Fire Chief Geoff Hayman says that he and the County are happy for the donation and that it will be an interesting and important exercise.
"Their generosity provides a rare occasion for live firefighting in a real building where they can practice a number of drills and fire suppression techniques, This type of training saves lives for both citizens and firefighters. We are grateful for this opportunity."
The Fire Department removed all of the harmful materials in the houses to ensure that firefighters, neighbours and the environment are not exposed to harmful toxins and is also a requirement of the County's bylaws and the Ministry of Environment regulations.
If you have any questions about the training exercise, please call the County of Brant Fire Administration team at 519-442-4500.
