Woodstonians will be ready to board a bus to the Rogers Centre to watch their beloved Blue Jays.
Blue Jays fans in Woodstock will be able to see their team in action later this year
Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 23rd, when Woodstock fans will be boarding a bus to head out to the Rogers Centre to see the Blue Jays host the Oakland Athletics.
This is the 12th time Woodstock will travel to the big city for the Woodstock Day At The Rogers Centre. Brad Janssen is the manager of community services for the Friendly City and says that this event really helps bring the community together, “Over the course of the history of this even we’ve taken up to 16 to 1,700 people and it’s a good opportunity to start thinking about baseball.”
Janssen adds that Woodstock has lots of baseball history, “Ted Rogers, before his untimely passing, a few years back had contributed $1,000,000 to the hospital when they were raising funds because his father worked on the courthouse when it was being built, and Tip O’Neill is from Woodstock and the Tip O’Neill trophy is awarded to the best Canadian Major League Baseball player.”
“We’ve supported the blue jays when they’ve been good, when they’ve been bad, when they’ve been down, it’s a feeling of getting out of town and watching some big league baseball and we like to think that we’ve been with the team all along,” says Janssen.
Fans will be hoping for another play-off run from Toronto for the upcoming season, about 1,000 people attended last year's game.
