Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ingersoll, Tillsonburg & District says goodbye to a beloved staff member as she leaves to focus on family.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, and District is saying goodbye to a woman who has touched many lives.
Heather Brekelmans has been with the organization for the past four years serving as a mentor and resource coordinator. She will be leaving to spend more time with her family as they look forward to the birth of twins.
Executive Director Deb Landon says Brekelmans was a huge asset to the team.
"She's one of those individuals that just encompasses what volunteerism and mentorship is and they all look up to her and she just has a passion for children and youth and just wants them to reach their full potential. She sees the best in every child she has worked with."
Throughout the years Brekelmans has been a big sister, an in-school mentor, and a big bunch leader among many other things.
Landon says she is sure this is not goodbye forever - she anticipates Brekelmans will return as a volunteer in some form.
A special open house will be held on Tuesday, July 25th from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. with a special presentation at 5:30 p.m.
Although members of the community are invited to stop by anytime, an RSVP ahead of time is appreciated.
