The Woodstock Fire Department were called to Pittock Lake yesterday after two kids went out on the thin ice.
Nobody was injured, but the incident serves as a reminder for ice safety.
No ice is safe ice right now, as we still need the mercury to drop before we can feel comfortable heading out.
The ice needs to be at least 4 inches thick to support 1 person and fishing gear.
At 5 inches thick, you can have a small gathering on the ice.
6 inches is what you need for a snowmobile or ATV, 9 inches for a small automobile and 12 inches for pickup truck or SUV.
