71 people will be looking for work when ZF-TRW closes its doors later this year.
TILLSONBURG - ZF-TRW is closing its doors for good in Tillsonburg.
71 people will be out of work when the plant moves their operations to Mexico later this year.
Cephas Panschow, Tillsonburg's Development Commissioner says they will begin their phase out in November before they shut down in December.
"Certainly there are a number of issues in play. I mean the company would have the best information but our understanding is that a fair bit of the end product is going to Mexico so it does make sense to move some of the production there."
ZF-TRW specializes in brake hub assemblies for large vehicles and trucks.
Panschow says there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
"The good news is that there are actually a fair number of employers in the town and in the county looking for jobs. So similar to what we did with Siemens, we can help work with our local employment services providers to help these employees find more opportunities in Tillsonburg."
Panschow adds the town has a great economy with strong investments in the residential and commercial sectors and he hopes they can rebound from this.
