Some Woodstonians were shocked by their first bill from ERTH, but an odd billing cycle may be the cause of a unexpectedly higher bill.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock residents have received the new bill from ERTH for water and wastewater.
Robert Walton, the Director of Public Works, tells Heart FM the change should not impact residents' wallets. "Other than that there's a new provider, there's no change in the county service on this and no change to the rates."
Some residents did receive a bit of a surprise on that first bill - it seemed higher than their previous bills. Walton says the first bill may be a little confusing, because there may be an abnormal cycle for some homes.
"The bills are not following the electrical schedule for being sent out to the same areas in the city. So some people will have as few as 20 days on the first bill and some will have as much as 59."
The bills will revert back to the 28 - 31 day cycle after this first bill.
The first payments of these bills will be due on February 29th. Walton tells us how residents can pay off these bills.
"It's to ERTH Corporations that they pay it and they can pay by cheque, online payments, and they can due pre-authorized payments as well."
You can find more information on the County's website or the ERTH Corporations' website.
According to ERTH's website while most financial institutions are accepting electronic payments not all are yet. Below you will find some places that will make this option accessible soon:
Bank of Montreal - coming February 23
Credit Union - coming February 24
CIBC - coming March 8 (as this is after the bill due date, overdue interest will be
