United Way Oxford's Virtual Day of Caring saw people from all over the County participate in a number of ways performing good deeds, volunteering and donating food items.
OXFORD COUNTY - The First ever United Way Oxford Virtual Day of caring was a huge success.
People from all over the County took part by performing good deeds, volunteering and donating food items. Resource Development Manager Amanda Kreiger says they were blown away by the community support.
"It went really well and I honestly can't say thank you enough for the community coming together and supporting the initiative. It did look very different but you know what there was still tons of impact and lot's of great stories to share."
Kreiger says a lot of people took part.
"We had work places that contributed with things like ordering from a restaurant that has just got back up and running, we had food drives and a tremendous response to all four of our food drives in the community. We are able to contribute to four different organizations with the food that came in. Our partners in our community were sharing stories about work being done in the community, some yard work, gardening, we had somebody build and deliver a picnic table to one of our partnering organizations. It really was just a wonderful day."
United Way Oxford has been doing the Day of Caring for 15 years, however Thursdays was the first one they had to do during a pandemic.
