The Iron Sirens will be decking their bikes out in purple to remember Tori Stafford
WOODSTOCK - To ensure what happened to 8 year old Tori Stafford never happens again, an all female riding club known as the Iron Sirens is putting on a memorial ride.
On Saturday you may notice motorcycles decorated in Tori's favourite colour, purple, parading down Dundas Street in memory of the little girl who was killed over 6 years ago. First Officer of the Thames Family of the Iron Sirens, Deb Roswell, goes into detail about what the riding club is all about. "We're an all female riding club. Our mandate is to get together, ride, and do so in a safe manner as well as help and support local community events. This is the 4th year we'll be doing the Tori Memorial Ride so she is always close to our hearts."
Roswell commented on how the tragedy in 2009 really hit home for many members in the club. "With us being an all female riding club we're all either mothers or grandmothers so the loss of a child really hits us hard. We just really feel it important to keep Tori's memory alive as well as raise awareness that unfortunately this type of thing happens."
Roswell explains what they are asking for participants to bring to the event. "All riders are welcome! What we are asking for this year, for Ingamo Homes, is they are looking for donations of non-perishable lunch food items. We're asking if you are going to come to the ride and enjoy the barbecue, if you could bring along a donation it would be greatly appreciated."
The ride also features fun activities like face painting at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Foodland. And this year they've also added the Masonic Child Identification Program. Parents can put together a free kit with photos, fingerprints, and DNA that could be given to police in case of an emergency.
The ride officially takes off at 3 p.m. and heads off towards London
