The population of Thamesford is just over 2,000 yet they managed to eat over 15,000 SMILE cookies this year to help support a great cause.
THAMESFORD - The village of Thamesford sure does love their SMILE cookies.
They only have one Tim Hortons in Thamesford, which makes sense as the population is just over 2,000 people. That didn't stop the small store from selling 15,755 SMILE cookies this year. Every penny from the sale of SMILE cookies goes to the charity of choice for the local Tim's owner.
Today the owner of the Tim Hortons presented Andrew's Legacy with a cheque for $15,755. The Thamesford Tim Hortons has been raising money for Andrew's Legacy through the Smile cookie campaign for three years now. Last year they raised just over $13,000 for Andrew's Legacy.
The organization started after the tragic passing of Andrew Stoddart in Kintore. He was playing soccer and it's believed an AED could have saved his life that day. Since then his mom Cara Schmidt and his aunt Krista Granger have made it their mission to equip as many sports fields, schools, arenas and other public areas with the life saving devices as possible.
The little store from Thamesford was actually the top selling Tim Hortons location for London-Middlesex. Even though they are in Oxford County, they are still considered London-Middlesex in the Smile cookie ratings. Woodstock Tim Hortons at Norwich Ave was the highest selling store for the entire SW Ontario region and came in 4th overall for all of Canada.
