Local paramedics have been honoured exemplary service medals.
WOODSTOCK - Eight Oxford County Paramedics have been honoured with Exemplary Service awards from the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs.
Theressa De Jong, Stephen Turner, Patricia Vanleeuwen and John Winspear were given the 20 year Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal. Oxford EMS Chief Ben Addley tells Heart FM these medals are not just given for years of service.
"So they have to be performing their duties as a paramedic in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct and efficiency and have additional things outside the role of paramedics and community involvement."
The other medals were handed out to paramedics who have served for 30 years with at least 10 years of exemplary weekend. The OAPC presents this award to paramedics who have served for at least twenty years in a meritorious manner, characterized by the highest standards of good conduct, industry and efficiency.
Roman Chorostil, John Kekhove, David Renaud and Joseph Pember Jr. was given the medal posthumously. Addley says he is really proud of the paramedics and these medals just go to show some of the amazing people we have working at Oxford EMS.
"We are proud of the exemplary service our paramedics provide and these eight members of our team are no exception. These Exemplary Service Medals recognize both longevity and quality in service. Combined, the eight recipients have delivered over 200 years of the highest quality of paramedic service to the people of Oxford County. That’s quite a feat."
