Despite lengthy legal arguments between the crown, 3 civilian witnesses and 3 OPP Detective Constables testified at the first degree murder trial of Michael Rafferty Tuesday. Former class mate Ann Tweedie told the jury she knew Rafferty by attending and walking to Drayton Senior Public School with him in grade 6. Tweedie said she kept on and off contact with Rafferty through MSN and Face Book and said Rafferty contacted her in March 2009 telling her he was dating an old middle school crush and was excited about it. 30 year old Jennifer Estell , who met Rafferty through the Plenty of Fish dating website testified Rafferty?s status said he was looking for a Christian-type girl. The 2 dated for 4 ? - 5 months in 2006. Joy Woods was the 3rd civilian witness to testify. Woods was the woman who was arrested - and her car seized - by the OPP on May 19th. She was arrested only because Rafferty was seen approaching her car the night he was arrested in the parking lot of the Good Life Fitness Club in Woodstock, but did not have any connection with Rafferty's alleged wrong doing. Woods, also met Rafferty through the ?Plenty of Fish dating website. 3 OPP Officers also testified who focused in and around on Rafferty?s movements in London on May 14, 2009 where he exchanged his Blackberry. They also spoke of why Rafferty made two separate phone calls to Corey?s Auto Wreckers in London referencing the missing back seat of his car and why Rafferty?s 2003 Blue Honda Civic was seen by an OPP Officer heading down highway 59 south just before midnight April 8, 2009 ? the same day Tori Stafford was lured away from her Oliver Stephen?s Public School. The trial resumes at 10 am this morning.
