Zorra Township is keeping a four day work week for staff.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Zorra Township is keeping a four day work week for staff.
CAO Don MacLeod says the pilot project was implemented in September 2020 and it has been very successful.
"It carried on from a review we did on our post lockdown review, we wanted to look at what worked for us and what didn't during the COVID-19. One of the things that came out of that research from a township in Nova Scotia who implemented a four day work week. We thought, based on the way we worked from home and somehow and someway we could improve employees work life basis, it might be worth a trial."
MacLeod says the results from the pilot project were encouraging.
"It came back at about 73 positivity from the employees who were on the compressed work week, which is fairly strong but there are a few things we still have to work out, but the employees generally like the compressed work week."
The Township will be open for longer hours to accommodate the shorter work weeks. They will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Half of the employees work Monday through Thursday, while the others work Tuesday to Friday. Public Works employees are the exception because their job is weather dependent. They will work a fortnite work week in the summer months, where they will work 9 days and have the 10th day off.
